Radiation Safety Services

NUKEM is the largest independent provider of Radiation Safety Services (also known as Health Physics) in the UK. We serve clients across the nuclear industry, in government organisations, multi-national corporations as well as private businesses. We are available to our customers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We have ~250 Health Physics staff, based on the UKAEA sites at Dounreay, Harwell, Winfrith and Windscale. We have provided UKAEA with Radiation Protection Advice, Operational Monitoring and Approved Dosimetry Services for many years and have extensive experience in all aspects of radiation safety. We also provide services to a wide range of other customers both within and outside the nuclear industry. For example, our Health Physics staff provide emergency support to the Government Decontamination Service. We have also provided health physics support including Approved Dosimetry Services, RPA Services and Radiation Safety Training, to the NDA. Overseas, we have provided health physics support in the clean up of nuclear test sites in Australia and assisted with reactor outages at Ontario Power Generation in Canada. In the UK we have been integral to every outage that has taken place at Sizewell B. This experience, together with our diverse locations throughout the UK, should enable us to meet any of your radiation safety requirements
